PURPOSE
& SCOPE:
Reporting
to the Engineering,
as the Product Design
Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and detailing tools, gauges,
and other mechanical equipment. Must work in a safe and efficient manner and
comply with Johnson Electric’s Health & Safety - Policies and Procedures
and Quality System - Policies and Procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design and detail tools, gauges, test equipment, machine
modifications and fixtures as required for the manufacture, testing and
processing of powder metal parts.
·
Provide technical assistance to the P&PD Engineer and
Equipment setters during new product development and the continuous improvement
of existing tooling.
·
Provide assistance to the Sales Engineering, Business Development
and P&PD teams to assess new product feasibility for manufacturing and
provide inputs for quotation.
·
Develop design change proposals for new products to ensure powder
metal manufacture is feasible and will meet the customer’s requirements.
·
Participate in APQP, problem solving and cost reduction teams by
representing the tool design group at meetings and assisting with problem
resolution, quality improvements and efficiency improvements.
·
Stay up to date with software and hardware changes as required in
CAD.
·
Participate in the development, implementation and tracking of
departmental and company continuous improvement projects to prevent and reduce costs,
improve quality, or improve service to our internal and external customers.
·
Ensure all work is performed and completed in a safe manner.
·
Ensure that the requirements of the
Quality Management System and Environmental Health and Safety Systems are met.
·
All other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Education
and/or Experience:
?
College or University graduate of a technical program in Product Design or
Manufacturing Engineering
?
Minimum 3 years of related experience
?
Excellent computer skills including practical knowledge of
hardware requirements, and programming.
?
Strong leadership, written, verbal, analytical and people skills.
?
Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.

metal tool design, design for multi-level presses in other industries or
mechanical design for high volume manufacturing is considered an asset.

platforms is considered an asset.
